Arthroscopic Surgery

With the evolution of arthroscopic techniques, physicians treat many problems using less invasive surgery with a high degree of success and a predictable, early return to function. Arthroscopic surgery uses fiber optics with a tiny lens, a light source, and a video camera.

Arthroscopic surgery can be performed on the knee, shoulder, hip, wrist, ankle, and elbow. Many procedures that required a large incision in the past can now be completed through the scope, reducing blood loss, hospital stay, and recovery time. Arthroscopic procedures are done on an outpatient basis, meaning patients typically return home the same day as surgery.
