Areas of Excellence - Fracture Care

A fracture is the term used for a broken bone. Broken bones usually occur as a result of some kind of trauma, such as a fall or a motor vehicle accident. Fractures can also occur as a result of overuse or with no specific mechanism of injury. These types of fractures are usually referred to as stress fractures. It is estimated that one in ten people will suffer from a fracture in their lifetime. Successful recovery from serious orthopedic trauma requires a physician with extensive training in diagnosing and treating a full range of orthopedic trauma, fractures, and general surgery, as well as experience in the treatment of the most complicated orthopedic trauma injuries. This allows us to provide the most advanced and effective techniques available today.

The physicians at Summit Orthopedics provide operative and nonoperative treatment of fractures. Nonoperative techniques commonly include casts, splints, and braces. Operative techniques use a variety of methods to fixate the bones, possibly using pins, wiring, or other fixation devices. Every fracture, and therefore, every treatment program, is unique.
