The holidays are touted as a joyful time of year, but the demands and indulgences of the celebratory season can add more than a little stress to the festivities. Summit’s Wellness Center is designed to help you emphasize the “happy”—and the “healthy”—in the holidays.

December in Minnesota evokes visions of sparkling snowy scenes and festive family gatherings, but admittedly, it takes a lot of work and planning to turn those dreams of togetherness into reality. Making holiday magic happen can be stressful. Our Wellness Center team wants to help. We have ideas to reduce seasonal stress and keep you healthier and happier through this celebratory month.

There’s a lot of pressure on us to be our best self at every moment. We want our turkey to roast beautifully, our holiday decorations and cards to go up and out right on schedule, presents to be wrapped and under the tree with time to spare—we ask a lot of ourselves, and that’s stressful! Our Health and Wellness team can’t help with holiday preparations, but we have created a welcoming space where you can come to relax and take care of your health—without the pressures or expense of the health club experience. Our services are priced competitively; we don’t want cost to be a barrier to better health. You don’t need the latest gym fashion. Your fitness routine isn’t being judged or evaluated by other members working out around you.

With walls of windows overlooking a snow-covered landscape, December is a breathtaking time of year to destress and work toward better health at HealthEast Sports Center. Our free wellness consultation will tailor a program to your goals. Our facilities are sunny and beautiful, and our wellness experience is designed to be personal and stress-free. You can work one-on-one with a personal trainer or in one of our friendly, welcoming group fitness class. There’s no competition. We simply support you in taking one step at a time to care for your own health and do the best you can.

Here are suggestions to help you cope with holiday stress.

  • Parents drop children off for practice at HealthEast Sports Center all the time. Instead of waiting on the bleachers until practice is over, pop upstairs for a 45-minute group fitness class. We have gentle yoga and energy flow yoga classes to help you reclaim calmness in your day. If you’ve been overindulging in holiday goodies, try a yoga sculpt class for a healthy workout.
  • In the bustle of holiday preparation, it is easy to focus on everyone else’s needs, and forget our own. Carving out an hour of time a week to breathe and stretch in one of our yoga classes is a wonderful way to take a break from life’s demands.
  • Our personal trainers are devoted to helping our clients achieve their goals through better health, and our clients love the experience. A package of four personal training sessions through the month of December is a great way to balance holiday bustle with healthy self-care—and gives you a head start on those New Year’s resolutions!
