Summit Orthopedics Expanding to Northfield, Lakeville, Farmington, and Faribault, Minn.

Woodbury-based Orthopedics Provider Expands Operations South of Twin Cities Metro

WOODBURY, Minn. – October 20, 2016 –Summit Orthopedics announced today that it is assuming full operations of an orthopedic care facility in Faribault, Minn., and intends to collaborate with Northfield Hospital & Clinics (NH&C) on medical services in Northfield, Lakeville, and Farmington. The clinic locations, currently staffed by Mankato-based Orthopedic and Fracture Clinic (OFC), are planned to become Summit Orthopedics clinical care sites in January 2017.

Five of the current OFC surgeons, as well as the entire medical and support staff from the Faribault clinic, will become Summit employees at the turn of the year. Summit’s intent is to continue services in current locations and have OFC physicians Drs. Hans Bengtson, Clint Muench, Bob Shepley, Eric Stroemer, and Brad Wille, as well as the teams that support them, continue seeing patients at those sites.

“Summit Orthopedics is committed to providing high quality orthopedic care, and the transition of care to Summit should be seamless for patients who rely on these physicians for care,” said Summit Chief Operating Officer, Jamison Young. “The philosophies and cultures of these physicians and Summit are well aligned. Our goal is to enhance orthopedic healthcare services for patients residing in the Northfield and Faribault areas.”

Summit Orthopedics will also seek to support NH&C so that it remains a vibrant and independent healthcare facility, Young said. “I believe that together, we could provide expanded services and offerings to the community, beyond what is possible as individual healthcare organizations. At Summit, we see the value of providing access to specialized care at the local level,” she said.

These patients also will be able to access Summit’s new Eagan facility, which will provide an outpatient ambulatory surgery center, as well as extended access to more advanced surgical procedures. The new facility will open in Spring 2017.
