Minimally Invasive Surgery
Historically, orthopedic surgery meant a long wait to schedule a procedure, several days of hospital recovery, and a sizable medical bill. The development of minimally invasive procedures—many performed in outpatient surgical centers like our Vadnais Heights surgery center—have improved quality of care, surgical recovery, patient safety, and surgical outcomes.
Minimally invasive surgery procedures provide a number of advantages over traditional surgeries. Minimally invasive techniques use smaller incisions, cause less trauma to the body with less blood loss, and result in decreased scarring. Recovery times are also shorter. Depending on the surgical procedure, recovery from traditional surgery could take six to eight weeks. After a minimally invasive procedure, patients may recover in as little as two weeks.
