Diagnostic tests such as X-rays and MRIs are used to help diagnose an injury or condition, or to rule out other potential issues. Necessary diagnostic imaging appointments are ordered by your Summit Orthopedics physician and can be scheduled at various Summit locations.
An MRI exam is a safe, painles diagnostic procedure. Images produced by MRI provide greater detail than other diagnostic imaging techniques.
Before your MRI exam, which will take from 45 to 60 minutes, your MRI technologist will need to know if you have:
Aneurysm clips
Metal pins, plates or prosthesis
Cardiac pacemaker
Joint replacements
Also remember to wear clothing without metal zippers or fasteners and to remove all jewelry prior to your exam.
