Under the supervision of the MOH Leadership, an Occupational Therapist/ Ergonomic Therapist develops and administers Work Performance Tests for companies (Post Offer Employment Testing) to determine the safety and viability of the prospective employee as well as defining and implementing individual Work Conditioning programs to allow for the rehabilitation of clients.

This is a full-time opportunity primarily based at our Shakopee MN Occupational Health Campus.  Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm.  Training will be done at multiple location per department needs.

  • Develop, evaluate and treat injured workers in a new or established work conditioning program.
  • Develop and administer work performance tests (WPT’s)
  • Instruct patients/workers/new hires in safe work practices or body mechanics related to their specific job demands.
  • Evaluate patient/ work space, worker habits, and provide guidelines to reduce risk of injury/re-injury.
  • Define, create, adapt or confirm essential and marginal job tasks in clinic or for employer.
  • Collaborates with referral source (QRC/employer/medical providers) on patient care, progress and issues as indicated.
  • Provide documentation of services provided for individuals or companies. FCE reports, Ergonomic Proposals, and other reports such as Employer Job Task Analysis of Physical Demand Reports.
  • Maintains patient records, charts, and discharge summaries.
  • Educates patients/workers in proper self-management and specific stretches/exercises.
  • Participates in the marketing of MOH Ergonomic Services.
  • Complies with federal, state and local legal and professional requirements by staying current with existing and new legislation and advises management on needed actions.

Other related duties, as assigned.

The Ergonomic Therapist may work in the community with employers to develop a Job Task Analysis, providing ergonomic education or services, develop active stretching programs or consultation on the American with Disabilities Act, Amended.

Education

  • Required: Bachelors in Occupational Therapy

Experience

  • Required: One to two years previous occupational or physical therapy experience preferred within an industrial rehabilitation setting.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational or Physical Therapy required. Experience in Functional Capacity Evaluation testing, job task/site analysis and/or work hardening/conditioning preferred. Strong background in workers compensation, ergonomics and consultation services is desired.
