About

Minnesota Roots, Dedicated to Caring for an Active Community

Minnesota is my home. I was born and raised in the western suburbs of Minneapolis. I went to Minnetonka High School, where I played hockey and football, and I went to medical school at the University of Minnesota. There, I met my wife, who is a board-certified OB/GYN and specializes in gynecologic oncology.

Minnesotans are some of the most hardworking, genuine, and caring people you can find. They are tough and resilient, with high expectations about the function they want to achieve because they are highly active and passionate about their hobbies. I’m honored to be able to care for our Minnesota community at Summit Orthopedics.

Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Trauma Focus

At Summit, my practice focuses on both orthopedic trauma and sports medicine. Orthopedic trauma can be challenging at times, because it’s no longer elective. Whereas you can help patients prepare for elective orthopedic surgery by optimizing their strength, mobility, and medical comorbidities prior to the procedure, that’s not the case when a traumatic injury has already happened and the patient needs more urgent surgical intervention.

Dr. Samborski’s Sports Medicine Practice Philosophy

When I meet a patient for the first time, I try to remind myself that I’m meeting this person on the worst day of their life, and that this is potentially their first experience with a significant injury. I try to approach the situation with a sense of optimism while also being realistic, setting expectations about minimizing pain while optimizing recovery and function.

The biggest compliment I can get from my patients is their referring their other family and friends, and/or coming back for problems unrelated to the initial problem for which I treated them. I hope that my patients feel they can trust me and that I’ll be there to care for them through a difficult time in their lives.

Dr. Samborski’s Interests Outside the Office

Outside of work, I keep busy with my family, including two young children. I enjoy water sports like waterskiing and wakeboarding, as well as winter sports including downhill skiing and ice hockey. I also like to hunt and fish. I love to cook, and I am an avid fan of Minnesota sports teams, including the Vikings, Twins, Wild, and Timberwolves.
