What is the difference between X-ray and MRI?

X-rays use radiation to produce an image of the body’s internal structure. They are typically used to diagnose and assess bone degeneration or disease, fractures and dislocations, infections or tumors.

MRI combines a powerful magnet with radio waves (using no radiation) and a computer to create highly detailed images of structures in the body. Images are viewed as cross sections or “slices” of the body part being scanned. MRI scans are frequently used to diagnose bone and joint problems.
