Parents, coaches and athletes should all learn the signs of concussion.  If a concussion is suspected, the player should not return to play until released by a medical professional.

Wait until a child is 10 before teaching them to slide, and when beginning instruction, use only sliding bases (not even breakaway bases).

Try to avoid having athletes wait until season start to begin conditioning.  Often the beginning of the season is prime time for injuries because athletes try to do too much too soon.

Overuse injuries are a real concern for athletes who play just one sport year-round.  There are certainly pressures to play just one sport, but if you can mix it up for at least one season, you will greatly reduce the incidence of overuse injury.

100 innings per year is the current recommended standard.
