Bracing Evaluation
In most cases, bracing providers will already have reviewed the dispensing order and any clinic notes related to the patient prior to the appointment. During the visit/consultation an orthotic treatment plan is determined based on medical goals, provider and patient expectations. Some cases are more involved than others, but assessments often include asking questions about the various activities the patient plans to be utilizing the product during, as well as understanding each individual’s capabilities and expectations. Some evaluations will require a limited amount of range of motion, manual muscle testing, and a gait assessment.
After the initial evaluation, the bracing practitioner will confirm with the ordering provider any recommendations that may differ from the original order and a new detailed order is created. This “Detailed order” is what is used for billing insurance.
