About
Helping Patients Stay Active From Childhood Through Adulthood
I specialize in nonoperative orthopedics and care for patients from age 4 to 104. I offer patients a variety of injections, depending on their needs, from steroids to hyaluronic acid. I also do injections under ultrasound guidance to help individuals maintain their activity level. I’m delighted that so many older adults are determined to maintain their athletic hobbies and activities, and I like helping them stay healthy and enjoy a good quality of life.
Nonoperative Orthopedics and Ultrasound-Guided Injections
I know how important it is to stay active. I played three sports in high school, as well as college basketball. That’s part of why I was drawn to this field. One of the things I really love about my job is that it requires a high level of expertise, but it’s also set in the context of a holistic view of the patient’s health, and how musculoskeletal issues may be related to other systemic issues. It’s a comprehensive field that considers the whole picture by looking through the lens of joints, muscles, and bones.
In terms of patient care, I’m a really good listener. I take the time to work through the issues or questions that brought a patient in to see me. I am adept at pivoting from one problem to another. I work to see things from my patients’ perspective. What would I want in their situation? What would I be feeling? What would I want for my child, if I were the patient’s parent?
Dr. Sarah Lehnert’s Other Interests
Outside the office, I love to fish. I grew up on a lake, and I currently live on a lake, so I’m out there as often as possible. I also recently added deep-sea fishing to my list of top hobbies — I did it once and was hooked. I’m also an avid Pilates goer, and my family and I enjoy hiking national parks. We go every summer as a family, and we have a big board on the wall that tracks the parks we’ve visited together.
I continued with my love of basketball after college by coaching girls’ basketball teams, ultimately becoming the director of the girls’ traveling league in my community for eight years. I have also participated in medical mission trips to Honduras as part of One World Surgery.
